Consider Prophecy

| Friday, March 4, 2011 | |
I’m writing this post so we can consider the prophecies fulfilled in the Bible.

Daniel 9:24-27
24Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.
25Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
26And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
27And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Here in this chapter of Daniel, it talks about a Messiah who will be cut off, or more accurately, crucified. Jesus is the only person in history who meets that criterion. The prophet Daniel was born hundreds of years before Yeshua (Jesus in Hebrew). Through the fulfillment of Biblical prophecies in the Old and New Testament, it is proven God exists and He is faithful to keep his word.

I encourage you to study the Bible and look for yourself to see the prophecies fulfilled in history. It’s so mind-numbingly awesome to know that God loves us enough to tell us things in advance.

To my Jewish brothers and sisters, Yeshua is your Messiah. If you look in the Torah or the books of the prophets, you can see the prophecies of the Messiah fulfilled in the New Testament. Jesus was Jewish. To become a Christian, you’re simply becoming a follower of your Messiah. You are not discarding your Jewish heritage or customs. A lot of Christians forget we are grafted in the Jewish people, like Ruth and Rahab. It’s not the other way around. Jews are not grafted into Christianity. My Jewish brothers and sisters, you are deeply loved. It was God who gave these prophecies to your people that have been fulfilled.

This brings me to the next prophetic thing we should consider. It’s in Luke, when Jesus is talking about what would take place in the last days before He comes back to spare us from the coming tribulation.

Recently, I was watching the news and they mentioned the last year had more natural disasters than any year prior, and they’re getting more and more frequent. They say it’s global warming, but it’s something much more significant than that. Global warming wouldn’t cause all those fish and birds that have dropped dead lately.

So, are we paying attention? Are we ready? Are we listening to what God is trying to tell us? It’s like trying to ignore an oncoming train. Closing your eyes to it, won’t save you. It’s something to consider.

We need to know God is in control. The only way to find salvation and security is through Jesus Christ the Messiah, God’s one and only Son. He died for our sins, he paid the ransom, and rose on the third day through God’s Holy Spirit. See it for yourself in the chapters below.

If you don’t know Jesus, all you have to do is recognize that we are all sinners and fall short of the glory of God, and understand that Jesus sacrificed His life to forgive and bring us back to a right relationship with God, our Creator. Talk to Him and tell Him you want a life with Him. You want to know His way. You want to be forgiven of your sins. Start reading your Bible and get involved in a Bible-believing church. It’s not about joining a religion or becoming a member of a church. It’s about your one on one relationship with God. Prophecies are just one way He speaks to us.
